August 31 – Explore McKenzie Conservation Area

Join volunteer Patti Ziegler on our first docent lead hike through McKenzie Conservation Area on Saturday, August 31st starting at 8am. McKenzie Conservation Area is most notable for its 3,000 feet of shoreline along Newman Lake. With a diverse landscape of upland evergreen forests, wetlands filled with cottonwood and aspen groves, streams, springs, and a pond, McKenzie Conservation Area is a haven for wildlife. Bald Eagles, as well as deer, coyotes, black bears, moose, painted turtles can all be found in the area.

This early morning hike is the perfect way to kick start your weekend. Remember to wear layers as temperatures will rise throughout the hike. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen and snacks too!
