Remembering Doug Pineo

Inland Northwest Land Conservancy lost one of our founding members and ardent activist for open space and  habitat preservation. Doug Pineo is unforgettable.  His kind and infectious personality is memorable and everyone who knew Doug has a “Doug story.” Doug was passionate and happy to talk (and talk, and talk) about conservation efforts and of course, his birds. He visited many classrooms in our Spokane area and brought his birds of prey to help people understand healthy ecosystems.

He was one of the early “worker bees” who spent  many, many hours establishing our Inland Northwest Land Trust. Doug cared deeply about his community and the environment. It was his nature to get involved and volunteer.  His voice as an avid hunter and angler served as an important perspective in the conservation world. He inspired countless other falconers, anglers, hunters and environmentalists as a mentor and friend.

I have known Doug for over 40 years and I miss my friend deeply.
