April 5 – Palisades Park Hike

April 5, 2025 9:00 am 20

Join volunteer hike docent Mike Harcarik on Saturday, April 5th for a guided hike through Palisades Park starting, at 9 am. For nearly 25 years Mike managed REI stores and became an avid outdoorsman, taking up rock climbing, canyoneering, mountain biking, trail runs and triathlons, watersports, winter sports, and even yoga!

Mike can’t wait to meet you and get outside to enjoy our local trails!

Once an amazing scenic drive (Rimrock Drive) with perhaps the best, most accessible, and most expansive views of Spokane. Palisades Park somehow remains little known when compared with more popular recreational areas like Mt. Spokane, Bluff trails and Riverside State Park. Hence the Rimrock to Riverside project – a collaborative effort across organizations to conserve natural space and connect Palisades and Riverside State parks. Over 700 acres of wooded space originally platted for a housing subdivision, Palisades is an excellent example of geologic formation, old lava flows, and rock formations. Further, it is an amazing space for year-round exploration to enjoy nature, wildlife, and recreational activities from hiking, running, biking, and snowshoeing.

This 3-mile hike will take approximately 90 minutes, depending on the group’s pace.
