Events

The Conservancy believes in the power of connecting people to nature. Our events are designed to give participants a unique view of lands we protect and an understanding of why they matter. We also work to instill the value of natural places in our community to raise up a human support structure for the earth here in the Inland Northwest.

August 16th Cougar Bay Nature Preserve Hike

Join volunteer hike docent Mark Merhab on a guided hike through Cougar Bay Nature Preserve on Saturday, August 16th, starting at 9 am. The trail follows along the shore of Cougar Bay and offers sights and sounds of many waterfowl and aquatic wildlife. The trail continues through Fir, Tamarack, and Pine forested slopes, up to a beautiful Viewing Platform overlooking Cougar Bay and the city of Coeur d’Alene.

The 2.5-mile hike has an elevation gain of approximately 400 feet as you walk to the viewing platform. There is some heavy natural vegetation along the trail, so insect repellent and sunscreen should be considered when preparing for the hike.

This hike is a chance to be outdoors, in a beautiful natural habitat on the NW side of Lake Coeur d’Alene, and to have open discussions about the importance of conserving lands and the work Inland Northwest Land Conservancy is undertaking!
