Events

The Conservancy believes in the power of connecting people to nature. Our events are designed to give participants a unique view of lands we protect and an understanding of why they matter. We also work to instill the value of natural places in our community to raise up a human support structure for the earth here in the Inland Northwest.

Waikiki Springs Storytelling Hike

Date & Time: Wednesday, January 14 | 10 a.m.
Location: Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve
Duration: 3+ hours

Join Hike Docent Alana Livingston for a guided, moderate hike through Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve along the Little Spokane River. This walk will move at a steady pace with time to pause, reflect, and share stories connected to the land and how people have related to this place over time. Come prepared for a thoughtful, place-based experience rather than a fast or technical hike.

The trail includes uneven terrain and some moderate sections. January conditions can mean mud, ice, or snow, so please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. This hike is best suited for those comfortable being outdoors in winter and walking for a few hours.

Suggested gear could include hiking poles, layers, spikes and anything else folks might want to be comfortable and safe. Binoculars and your favorite snacks are always something you’ll appreciate finding in your pack while out on the trail!
