The Conservancy believes in the power of connecting people to nature. Our events are designed to give participants a unique view of lands we protect and an understanding of why they matter. We also work to instill the value of natural places in our community to raise up a human support structure for the earth here in the Inland Northwest.

Join volunteer hike docent JoAnne Baldwind on Saturday, July 17th, for a guided hike at Saltese Uplands starting at 9 am. The Saltese Uplands are still a well-kept secret. You’ll wander through canyons and along ridgelines where you can view Mount Spokane, Liberty Lake, and Saltese Flats, a birder’s paradise. If we’re lucky, we’ll see a raptor or two taking advantage of the updrafts off the Flats below.
This 4-mile hike is in a shrub steppe habitat, which means fewer trees and lots of grasses (maybe a couple of patches of wildflowers here and there) – bring a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water, as we’ll likely be in the sun for the majority of our hike. Our elevation gain is around 600 feet, making this hike interesting without being too hard. Any climbing will be rewarded with a view…I promise!
