Join volunteer hike docent Mark Merhab on a guided hike through Cougar Bay Nature Preserve on Saturday, July 26th, starting at 9 am. The trail follows along the shore of Cougar Bay and offers sites and sounds of many waterfowl and aquatic wildlife. The trail continues through Fir, Tamarack, and Pine forested slopes, up to a beautiful Viewing Platform overlooking Cougar Bay and the city of Coeur d’Alene.
The 2.5-mile hike has an elevation gain of approximately 400 feet as you walk to the viewing platform. There is some heavy natural vegetation along the trail, so insect repellent and sunscreen should be considered when preparing for the hike.
This hike is a chance to be outdoors, in a beautiful natural habitat on the NW side of Lake Coeur d’Alene, and to have open discussions about the importance of conserving lands and the work Inland Northwest Land Conservancy is undertaking!
