Events

The Conservancy believes in the power of connecting people to nature. Our events are designed to give participants a unique view of lands we protect and an understanding of why they matter. We also work to instill the value of natural places in our community to raise up a human support structure for the earth here in the Inland Northwest.

March 15 Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve Hike

Please join volunteer hike docent Joe Spitz for a hike at Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve on Saturday, March 15th, starting at 10 am. Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve is a showcase example of INLC protecting land from future development. This area is rich in wildlife including a large active bald eagle nest on site. The history is as varied as the wildlife including at one time, the home of the middle band of the Spokane Tribe and later a large dairy farm that operated in the area.

This 3-mile hike will take approximately 2 hours to complete. Some moderate climbing involved. Shaded areas of trail could also be icy this time of the year (trekking poles or Trax) aren’t a bad idea. Wear sturdy shoes, bring water and remember to check the weather to dress appropriately.

When: Saturday, March 15th starting at 10 am

Where: Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve (click to map to trailhead)

*A Discover Pass is required to park right in front of the trailhead, however you do not need one to park on the adjacent residential road
