The Carder Farm Conservation Property consists of 160 acres of middle-aged old-growth Firs and Pines, including 30 acres of meadows. You can also find seasonal ponds depending on the time of year and conditions. The 160 acres of land are undulating, with a 400-foot hill that overlooks Lake Coeur d’Alene. The hill consists of gneiss and schist rock formations, and the northern boundary of the property offers Basalt Rim rock. This land and the surrounding landscape provide excellent habitat for wildlife!
Wes and Theresa have graciously offered to share their story and land on this guided hike with volunteer docent Mark Merhab.
Theresa recently authored a book that chronicles the history of Cougar Bay Nature Preserve, just across Highway 95 from the Carder Farm easement. This book also highlights some of Wes’s beautiful watercolors of Cougar Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Click here to learn more!
INLC volunteer photographer Lorenzo Menedez will also join us for the tour! Lorenzo will share his insights on the techniques and equipment he uses to capture his awe-inspiring landscape and wildlife photography.
This tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at the vital conservation work and partnerships taking place in North Idaho, thanks to dedicated landowners, local supporters, and Inland Northwest Land Conservancy.
