Baker Lake easement preserves a working forest

2,520 acres near Horseshoe Lake in Stevens County, WA

The Baker Lake conservation easement includes 68-acre Baker Lake fed by Beaver Creek and other seasonal tributaries located high within the Little Spokane Watershed. The wetlands and creeks invite an enthusiastic gathering of waterfowl, osprey, and bald eagles.

In 2011, Beryl Baker worked with INLC to craft a conservation easement that keeps the land intact so it can remain a working forest forever.

Thanks to Mr. Baker the land will continue to provide year-round habitat for deer, elk, moose, bear, cougar, and other animals. Birds will continue to find sanctuary in the forest terrain. And the forest will continue to provide timber for years to come.
