Cedar Mountain Forest Stands Tall – INLC’s latest conservation easement

December 28, 2015

On December 15, 2015 Kirk and Madeline David granted a conservation easement on their 155 acres near Silverwood. This property provides a buffer between development on the Rathdrum Prairie and the forested hills beyond. The “Cedar Mountain Forest” is a keystone in INLC’s focus on the forested foothills between Bayview and Hayden Lake. These lands are wildlife corridors between the mountains and the prairies, and their streams replenish the Rathdrum Aquifer.

The Davids are proud forest landowners and active in their community. They received the American Tree Farm System’s 2015 National Leadership Award. Kirk and Madeline have led many “Ties to the Land” succession planning workshops where they help private forest owners grapple with how to keep their woodlands intact and in the family from generation to generation.

We are proud to have Kirk and Madeline David and their Cedar Mountain Forest join INLC’s conservation family.
