Events

The Conservancy believes in the power of connecting people to nature. Our events are designed to give participants a unique view of lands we protect and an understanding of why they matter. We also work to instill the value of natural places in our community to raise up a human support structure for the earth here in the Inland Northwest.

March 20 – Waikiki Philosphical Hike

EWU philosophy professor and volunteer hike docent Chris Kirby will lead a hike at Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve on Thursday, March 20th, starting at 2 pm. For the past 16 years Chris Kirby has taught classes in philosophy and environmental ethics at EWU.

This 4-mile hike will take approximately 2 hours to complete. Make sure to check the weather on the day of the hike. The walk a gradual uphill with approx. 300 feet of elevation gain. Comfortable hiking shoes are recommended. Bring water and clothing appropriate to the day’s weather.

On this wisdom hike participants will have an opportunity to discuss what we might learn from “thinking like a mountain.”
