Make an Investment in the Future

All of our lives we are faced with making investments in the future. We start with investments into education, into our jobs, our children, their education, our retirements and the list goes on. Over the past twenty five years landowners in the Inland Northwest have made major investments in the future of our environment and, more importantly, the future of our children’s and grandchildren’s environment. The range of the conservation easements that these motivated landowners have implemented is quite impressive. Latah Creek, the Little Spokane River, Crab Creek, Lake Coeur d’Alene, Priest River and many others. And from these investments future generations will derive so many benefits, as we will have healthier forests, cleaner rivers and streams, improved wildlife habitat, and my favorite, improved trout fishing.
In many ways, these investments made by the landowners are really the back end of what Inland Northwest Land Conservancy accomplishes. The front end is the investments that our members and funders provide so that we can work with willing landowners to establish and maintain these easements and partner projects in perpetuity, and it is your membership donations and your commitment to INLC that will continue to make this happen over the years to come.
Over the next few months you will see a major effort to significantly increase our membership numbers and to ask existing members to identify and encourage potential new supporters to join us in our drive to increase conservation lands. So as you receive our monthly newsletter, especially our electronic copy, please forward to friends and neighbors whom you feel might be interested in land conservation. I know that when I have a friend tell me about an organization that they support, I always take a second look.
This is the investment in the future that I am going to ask each of you to make over the next few months: Pass the word! Tell others. Invite them to the Appetite for Conservation. Invite them to our annual meeting. The mission and success of INLC is an easy sell once people understand what we really do, and every single member makes a difference.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
