Nature close to home – Habitat Stewardship

September 3, 2017

Wes Hanson is one of our members who truly embraces the INLC vision. Wes and his late wife Gertie created one of the first conservation easements in Kootenai County, preserving 158 acres of land that Gertie’s family had owned since 1902. The land is home to old growth trees, a large meadow, and seasonal ponds. Many animals also roam the property including elk, deer, bear, and over 100 different kinds of birds. Wes and his partner Teresa continue their conservation efforts, maintaining this safe and secure plade for wildlife to thrive.
