President’s Message – Summer 2016

May 25, 2016

I am sitting in my office at 7:30 PM looking out upon a gorgeous sunset and thinking about how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful place as the Inland Northwest. The days are getting warmer, the sun-filled evenings are getting longer, everyone who uses our rivers, lakes, and streams have already either gotten their “stuff” ready or are already taking advantage of our hiking, climbing, biking, fishing… the list goes on. The Inland Northwest is in a period of transition and everything is starting to grow in new and exciting ways. The same is true with INLC: we are entering a period of transition and change that will open up new opportunities and exciting ways to enhance the conservation of all of our communities.

It has been a little over a month since Garry announced his move to Colorado to take on new responsibilities. Our staff is outstanding as each day they embrace new ways to engage our communities and conserve our lands. Already they are expanding our programs such as Grounded in Nature, the University District project, integration of the Deep Creek Preserve, and many others.

Your board has decided that this transition it is a great opportunity to assess our skills, determine our future needs, and define a roadmap that will enhance our organization. We will be engaging our stakeholders to participate in a broad range of discussions to define our needs and goals. We look forward to getting your input as we move forward.

If you have any questions about this transition, I can be reached at president@inlandnwland.org.
