Welcome to the Stewardship Crew

January 28, 2020

The new Enhanced Stewardship Program has three main goals: build landscape knowledge, combat climate change with hard science, and serve our community through on-the-ground projects and education. In addition to more frequent work parties, INLC will be rolling out two new programs that meet the third, education and project-oriented goal.

Field Fridays

Starting in March 2020, INLC will be hosting Field Fridays, which are all-day events, held on the first Friday of each month, aimed at completing citizen science monitoring, doing restoration projects, and learning about key landscape features from local field experts. With the data we gather, we can hone our restoration to be tremendously effective, directly improve habitats, and identify resilient landscapes!

It’s hard to imagine, but the work we’ll do on these Field Fridays will often outlive us. Trees we plant will live for a hundred years. Wildlife will inhabit the lands we enhance for decades or longer. And the waters we help restore will invigorate communities far and wide. In just a few hours, we can make a big difference and learn a lot in the process. Come and join us! Click here for a list of upcoming events.

Volunteer Land Steward Program

We are all Stewards in one way or another. Whether you take care of your family and friends, your animals, your home, your car, or if you just do something nice for a stranger every once in a while, you are a Steward. We need to make The Land a priority as Stewards. And the Volunteer Land Steward (VLS) program is a great way to do that.

Volunteers on the land

The VLS program is an adopt-a-property program for people who want to be more involved in the restoration process. If you’re passionate about keeping the land healthy, this program is for you. With almost no required time commitments, freedom to take initiative over your own projects, and INLC guidance along the way, this program is for anyone desirous of time outside, spent doing something good.
