From stewardship opportunities, guided hikes and drinking beer, our events line up is PACKED. We’ll keep this intro short and sweet so you can get onto what really matters ⬇️

AUGUST

Wednesday, August 23rd: Bi-weekly Waikiki Wednesdays

Every other Wednesday from 9:00am-2:00pm at Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve we will be performing various stewardship tasks like invasive species removal, trail maintenance, planting, and everything else in between! We will have snacks and coffee before the event starts from 8:40am- 9:00am.

Friday, August 25th: 2nd Annual River Reunion

Inland Northwest Land Conservancy, Salmon Safe, and Brick West Brewing are excited to announce the launch of their second Salmon-Safe certified beer “Upstream IPA”, brewed with hops and grain grown right here in the Inland Northwest by local growers.

Come out to the brewery and interact with your fellow Spokane community members to learn about your local Spokane aquifer and discover how the protection and restoration of local waterways benefit wildlife and fish throughout our community!

Sunday August 27th: Rimrock View Trail Hike

Hike Docent, Bob Ganahl, will lead a hike through Rimrock View Trail and Park on Sunday, August 27th starting at 9:30am. For the past twenty years Bob Ganahl has enjoyed the Inland Northwest’s great outdoors. A retired teacher, he nowadays skis when there’s snow and backpacks when there isn’t. He is equally enamored of all four seasons outside.

Thursday, August 31st: Evening Hike at Saltese

Volunteer Hike Docent, Mark Merhab, will lead an evening hike at Saltese Uplands on Thursday, August 31st starting at 5:30pm. Love and Respect of nature is deeply rooted in Mark’s core beliefs. He is volunteering for the Conservancy, to give back in a positive effort, to the natural wonders of our environment around Spokane!

SEPTEMBER

Thursday, September 7th: Morning Hike at Trautman Ranch

Volunteer hike docents, Brenda Day and Barb Morkill, will lead a morning, week day hike at Trautman Ranch on Thursday, September 7th starting at 9am. Brenda is a veterinarian by trade and an avid birder who can always be found carrying her camera on hikes. Barb has been a member of INLC for many years and prefers to be outside, gardening, hiking or just soaking up sun, rain or snow!

Sunday, September 10th: Waikiki Springs Hike

Volunteer Hike Docent, Alana Livingston, will lead a hike at Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve on September 10th starting at 10 am. A Spokane native, Alana owns and runs Wander Spokane, a business providing several guided walking excursions and tours around the Spokane area.

Thursday, September 21st: Volunteer Land Steward Trainings are back!

Join us at the INLC Office for an in-person Volunteer Land Steward Training from 4-5:30pm! The Conservation Community (that’s you!) has helped Inland Northwest Land Conservancy to conserve over 23,000 acres of the beautiful wildlife habitats, waters, healthy forests, open spaces, and recreational lands that are essential to life in our region. Now it’s time to get to work caring for the lands we’ve protected!

Sunday, September 24th: Saltese Uplands Hike

Volunteer Hike Docent, Gina Claeys, will lead a hike at Palisades Park on September 24th at 9 am. Gina is originally from Michigan and moved to the Spokane area in 2015. She owns a wildlife education guiding company, works for the City of Spokane as a park technician, and is involved with the Spokane Mountaineers!
