By Protecting Your Legacy, You Protect the Land

August 8, 2025

When we think about “planning for the future,” many of us picture saving for retirement, creating a budget, or setting career goals. But planning also means thinking about what will happen to the places we love and what we will leave for future generations.

August is National Make a Will Month and is a reminder to take that important step of creating or updating your will or estate plan. Having a will not only ensures your wishes are carried out, but it can also help safeguard the lands, waters, and wildlife that make the Inland Northwest so special.

We work every day to protect the natural beauty, wildlife habitat, and healthy waters that sustain life here in our region. Including the Conservancy in your estate plans is one powerful way to ensure these treasured places will thrive for generations to come.

A planned gift can help:

  • Conserve critical wildlife habitat and migration corridors
  • Protect rivers, streams, and wetlands
  • Restore and maintain healthy forests and grasslands, and
  • Provide outdoor spaces for future generations to explore and enjoy

Your legacy becomes part of the long-term protection of the lands and waters we all depend on.

“As I got involved with the Conservancy, I started to realize the importance of what the organization was doing, and that’s one of the reasons we decided to include the Conservancy in our planned giving. It was a simple process and a phone call to our attorney to put this in our will.” – Carl Griffin, Planned Giver

Ways to Leave a Legacy

Including a gift to Inland Northwest Land Conservancy in your estate plans can be simple and flexible. Here are a few options to consider:
