Now is the time to pot up native plants!

There’s something deeply satisfying about potting up a plant and knowing that what looks small today will soon feed a pollinator or shelter a bird. That’s the work happening right now at Glen Tana, and we’d love for you to be part of it.
When we launched our native plant nursery at Glen Tana in 2024, we had capacity for up to 4,000 plants. It was a meaningful start to restoring native habitat across the region.
Now, two new nursery plots are taking shape, and when complete, total capacity will grow to 12,000 plants. The team is actively working on nursery foundations, irrigation systems, and a pump house to support this expanded operation.
It Takes a Community
Expansions like this only happen with the support of community partners. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Private Lands Program plays a key role in both the nursery expansion and planting efforts. The Lands Council and Pheasants Forever are helping grow and house plants for restoration projects. Washington Conservation Corps team members have dedicated hands-on labor to help build the nursery from the ground up. And the Spokane Audubon Society has generously supported the expansion, recognizing that healthy plant communities are essential for thriving bird populations.
Join Us: Volunteer Potting Days This April

The plants won’t pot themselves! We’re hosting three volunteer potting sessions this month at Glen Tana, and we’d love your help getting native plants ready for the season ahead. Get your hands dirty as we work together to pot bareroot native plants into larger containers. These plants will spend the summer growing strong before being used in important native planting projects this fall. Your efforts will have a lasting impact on our local landscapes and ecosystems.
