New year, same great guided hikes! Learn more about local natural spaces your Conservancy has helped protect while getting a jump start on your new years goals. Getting outside, moving your body, and meeting fellow hikers are great ways to improve your physical and mental wellbeing.
Saturday, January 6th: Slash Pile Burning at Waikiki Springs
“Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful”
With the cold and long winter ahead of us, come warm up with us at Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve! To reduce fuel load at the preserve, we will burn piles of brush collected by volunteers over the past year. We invite you to come during any point and stay as long as you’d like. Snacks and warm beverages will be provided.
Sunday, January 7th: Slavin Conservation Area Hike
Hike Docent, Andi Chatburn (pictured above), will lead a hike through Slavin Conservation Are on Sunday, January 7th starting at 9am. Andi has lived in Spokane with her partner John since 2010 and enjoys engaging trails in all seasons. Whether in boots, snowshoes, alongside one of her two companion Bernese mountain dogs, or on skis, Andi seeks a mindful pace.
Sunday, January 14th: Rimrock Hike
Volunteer hike docent, Bob Ganahl, will lead a hike at Rimrock View Trial and Park on Sunday, January 14th starting at 9am. For the past twenty years Bob Ganahl has enjoyed the Inland Northwest’s great outdoors. A retired teacher, he nowadays skis when there’s snow and backpacks when there isn’t. He is equally enamored of all four seasons outside.
