National Make-A-Will Month

August 16, 2024

By Gillian Rowe, Philanthropy and Communications Assistant

For many, August feels like a month for preparation and organization. Maybe you have more free time as summer travel plans wind down. It could be the constant messaging around the “back-to-school” season fueling your desire for productivity. Perhaps you want to get a jump start on end-of-year to-dos. Whatever your motivation, August is the perfect month to organize your personal and financial affairs.

National Make-A-Will Month raises awareness about the importance of estate planning. From ensuring your wishes are followed to reducing potential family disputes, preparing for the future alleviates uncertainty and gives you and your loved ones peace of mind today and in the future.

Planning for the future is also crucial for protecting local lands and waters. Here at Inland Northwest Land Conservancy, we value perpetuity—we want our work to outlive us, and we all know land conservation doesn’t just…happen. It takes a plan. It takes willing private landowners and tribal members, agency partners, and volunteers. It takes experts in the field and annual supporters.

It takes people like you. You are a crucial part of this work.

Through estate planning, you can leave a legacy in your community while helping your Conservancy plan for the future. Your legacy can help create a thriving future for conservation right here in the Inland Northwest.

Here are some of the ways to leave a legacy:

  • Include a gift of cash, stocks, or bonds to Inland Northwest Land Conservancy in your estate plan (i.e. will or living trust)
  • Direct part or all of your IRA or 401(k) to Inland Northwest Land Conservancy upon your passing
  • Name Inland Northwest Land Conservancy as a full or partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

We invite you to plan your financial wishes during National Make-A-Will Month and help conserve the best of the Inland Northwest.

Our deepest gratitude to those who have already chosen to include Inland Northwest Land Conservancy in their estate plans!
