Shared Leadership for a Resilient Future

June 20, 2025

As spring gives way to summer in the Inland Northwest, we’re reminded that growth comes in seasons—and that sometimes, stepping back is part of moving forward.

Beginning in July, Executive Director Dave Schaub will be taking a planned three-month leave, returning in early October. This opportunity for rest and reflection has been thoughtfully aligned with Inland Northwest Land Conservancy’s strategic priorities—specifically, our commitment to building a strong, distributed leadership team ready to carry our mission forward in any circumstance.

During Dave’s absence, a trio of experienced program directors will share leadership responsibilities:

  • Rose Macaulay will lead board communications and steward key conservation partner relationships.
  • Mike Crabtree will oversee financial operations and guide work with our land and water conservation partners.
  • Carol Corbin will lead donor and public engagement while supporting the team’s internal culture and cohesion.

Each of these leaders brings deep knowledge, trusted relationships, and a long history with INLC. Together, they’ll ensure continued momentum on the major goals of our strategic plan—from advancing conservation projects to engaging the community in caring for the lands and waters we all cherish.

This transition reflects more than just a temporary change. It’s part of a larger effort to build lasting organizational resilience. By cultivating a culture of shared leadership, we ensure that the Conservancy remains not only effective today, but strong and sustainable for generations to come.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership. We’re excited to share conservation progress with you throughout the summer—and Dave looks forward to reconnecting in the fall with fresh energy and vision.
