Welcome Matthew!

We want to give a warm welcome to Matthew Price, who recently joined us as INLC’s Preserve Manager. In this role, Matthew leads habitat and capital improvement projects, manages our native plant nursery, and coordinates volunteers and conservation crews at Waikiki Springs and INLC’s Glen Tana property.

Matthew grew up in North Spokane’s Indian Trail neighborhood, with Riverside State Park spread out beyond the backyard like a second home. As a child, he loved to spend time wandering among basalt outcrops, ponderosa pines, and the Spokane and Little Spokane Rivers—first on his own, then through Boy Scouts and countless explorations across Northeastern Washington.

Prior to INLC, Matthew spent six years working on conservation properties in partnership with the Conservancy, an experience that showed him that conservation is not an abstract idea, but a practice rooted in long-term care and community.

Matthew loves mountain biking, trail running, backpacking, paddling a canoe, or wandering with his dog. Ask Matthew what tree he’d be, and he’ll tell you a Douglas fir. It’s not the tallest or the oldest, but it endures, sending down deep roots, standing through storms, and sheltering life around it.

For Matthew, the motivation to conserve land and water is simple: “Conservation, at its best, is an act of reciprocity. It is a way of honoring the landscapes that sustain us and ensuring that future generations can form their own relationships with them.”

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Matthew. We’re glad you’re part of the team!
